Articles by Robert C. Koons

Robert C. Koons received his Ph.D. in philosophy from UCLA after being awarded First Class Honours in Philosophy and Theology at Oxford University. He is a professor of philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin.

He has published articles in such journals as Mind, Philosophical Studies, and The American Philosophical Quarterly. In his article, "A New Look at the Cosmological Argument," he has restated the classical argument for God as the First Cause, using techniques borrowed from recent work in mathematics, analytic philosophy, and cognitive science.

He has worked on formal semantics, decision and game theory, and the theory of causation. His 1992 book, Paradoxes of Belief and Strategic Rationality, was published by Cambridge University Press and in 1993 received the Gustave O. Arlt Award from the Council of Graduate Schools for the year's outstanding book in the humanities by a junior scholar. His book Realism Regained is published by Oxford University Press (March 2000). In addition to these works, Dr. Koons contributed chapters to Naturalism: A Critical Appraisal, The Rationality of Theism, and Uncommon Dissent.
