On the show's second hour, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the host Steve Scher and his guests discussed how to best replace the seismically vulnerable Alaskan Way viaduct on State Route 99 along Seattle's waterfront. the focus was on the surface street-transit option and the inland, deep bored tunnel option. Of the four guests who stated a preference, three (UW professor Ochsner, Ivar's CEO Donegan, and Pike Place Market Executive Director Binder) said they favored the deep bore tunnel option, emphasizing the importance of thru traffic capacity and minimization of disruption to businesses.
